Louisiana Rail Run
Louisiana Rail Run is a Biannual operations event that is co-sponsored by our Midsouth Model Railroad Club and Jim Lofland's Tall Timber and Santa Fe.
In addition to the two layouts above, Lou Schultz's C&O in Covington, LA and the Crescent City Model Railroad Club in Metairie (New Orleans) participate as well. Approximately 15-20 invited guest arrive in Baton Rouge on a Friday afternoon. After supper, the group is split in halves to operate on the two layouts here in Baton Rouge. On Saturday morning the group is again split for visits to Crescent and Lou's. After lunch, the two groups swap places in Metairie and Covington. On Sunday morning there is another trading places in Baton Rouge for visits to the two layouts that were working on Friday nite. With 18-20 hours of fun behind them, the group is ready for a nice snack provided by Jim and Sally Lofland and then they are on their way home.
Operators in attendance have come from Dallas/Ft Worth, Houston and Shreveport. Due to limitations in layout operating space, the event is usually limited to a first come basis.
