Open House

On August 7 and 8, 2004, the club hosted it first open house. The GATS (Great American Train Show)  was taking place at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, Louisiana. We had advertised in Model Railroader Magazine and handed out flyers at clubs within the Bayou Division NMRA area. Additionally, flyers were placed in numerous places at the GATS location. The hours open  were from 1-5 pm and this needs to be addressed in future functions. A time frame of 2-6 pm would allow interested guest to leave the GATS and drive to the club with time to spare. Although the turnout was not as large as we would have liked, all who came were impressed with the layout and will come back to visit in the future. Many who came were out of town and we were able to share ideas and plans for their layouts. Making new friends was our goal and we accomplished that in a fine manner.
